We can all see that the world is changing. Many people meet this challenge by changing themselves.
This is great, because it is the start on the path to a compassionate society, where people are truly connected. You could describe human society as a large coherent structure, comparable with the coherent structure you see in a body, consisting of cells and organs, in the ideal case working together harmoniously. If these cells and organs do not work together, there are diseases. If these cells and organs are in competition, or if there are fights, autoimmune diseases will be the result. When cells or organs of the body are becoming aggressive towards other cells and organs of the body, they begin to destroy the body itself. I have been reading about spiritual people, who are more or less aware about the importance of harmonious connections, how they emphasise a need for protection and defence, condemning others. Yes, I have not been free of it myself. Yes I too have had my unconscious moments, and I might have them again, but I've learned larger truths which I would like to share here: We are ALL ONE, there is nothing else. Lower levels of consciousness follows higher levels of consciousness. If we focus on pain and darkness then this will determine our experience. Pain and suffering are natural events on our paths of development. It is good to to deal with pain, to transform it, but not for pain to guide our thinking, feeling and acting. When we condemn others, fight against others or even defend ourselves, we are at war, no matter what the intention is. It is sufficient to be aware of pain shortcomings instead of fighting or resisting it. It is important to know my BEing and DOing. Empathy means compassion and refers to the connection with oneself and others. This includes also the connection to others who we perceive wrong, injured, blocked, depressed or even dangerous. This does not mean that we accept their actions, directed against dignity and peace, or remain silent. It is good to observe and to name what is life-affirming or life-denying on the road to a WHOLE society that lives in peace with itself. War is war, no matter with what intention is. A war on terror is still war. When I am against other people or other ideas, I find myself at war. And this war is really directed against myself. This war affects the cells and DNA of my own body. Epigenetics explains this explicitly; the DNA within your every single cells right now is doing two essential things: it is listening and it is responding! Each cell is listening to your environment through its countless molecular antennae embedded in the cellular membrane. This cellular skin interprets the environmental signals and relays the corresponding instructions to the DNA within the nucleus of the cell. It is our thoughts and attitudes that affect our health! Your genes hold the blueprint of your nature, while it is the environment that determines how they are activated via the cellular membrane. The concept of environment must be extended to include your thoughts, feelings and words, all of which generate subtle electromagnetic signals that have a profound affect on your DNA. It is our thoughts and attitudes that affect our health! War is essentially self-directed, directed against our non-accepted, hurt and injured selves. War is never achieving a society of peace.
